The Cigarettes We Smoked
I don't know how many of you smoked.  But I remember when I started, it was so cool.  We all
thought we looked so good.  Little did we know then  how many of our friends would die from
cigarette related diseases.  I remember my parents warning me that if you do decide to start it
was  hard to stop.  Even doing a term paper and listening to the surgeons report didn't slow us
down.  I saw those black lungs and still looked the other way.   I ended up smoking  25 years, and
buying myself and Larry a carton of cigarettes every other day.  Please don't tell me it wasn't habit
forming. because it is.  I only wish I could turn back time and knew then what I know now.  I
wouldn't care how cool  or good we thought we looked.  It's so much better to be able to breath
and smell  the coffee and roses.  So glad we were able to quit, hopefully
before it did to much damage.                  LaVern
