JUNE UPDATE

Don't forget to join us this Saturday, June 13, 9 a.m. at Ridgway's Restaurant, corner of Oakdale Rd. and E. Orangeburg in Modesto.  We will be having a committee meeting following our breakfast social.

 
I heard from Dwight and Kareleen (Fairless) Lee (who now live in Paso Rables) that they will be joining us.  And, we never know who else will be there, so hope you can make it.
 
Just about 3 months to go before our September 19 reunion.  Don't forget to sign up for the cruise and return your reservation form.

1.  We've scheduled Saturday, September 19, 2009, for our evening reunion event.  Please save the date.

Hello, MHS Class of '59 -
 
Our email list is getting longer and we're getting a great response to our questionnaire.  If you haven't already returned it, please do so by June 30 so we will know what to plan.  This is your reunion and we're giving everyone an opportunity for some input and there will be something for everyone.  It will be a great weekend with an opportunity to attend a breakfast, dinner, and a free potluck picnic.
 
Committee Meeting - Wednesday, June 11, 2 p.m., 3800 Springcreek Dr., Modesto
 
Please let me know if you plan to attend this meeting.  We will be deciding on a more permanent meeting location and time.  If you can't be there, but want to be on the committee, let us know if you prefer morning, afternoon or evening meetings and the days of the week you'll be free.  We will try to accommodate the majority.
 
Social Breakfast - Saturday, June 14, 9 a.m. - Ridgway's Restaurant
 
We will have a couple of people from out of the area there so hope you can make it.  We never know who will show up so it's lots of fun to see who arrives.  Don't forget spouses and/or other guests are more than welcome.
 
Although our email list is getting longer, unfortunately the list of "missing" classmates is also getting longer.  I will be sending out that list in the next couple of weeks after I get back all the returns from our recent mailing.  Unfortunately, this list is 10 years old so we have a lot of work to do.  Are there any great email detectives out there who would like to help with the search via the internet?  All help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello, Fellow Classmates - Hope you're enjoying the start of a great summer.  Thanks so much for all the great responses you've sent to our questionnaire. 
 
Breakfast Reminder:  Our next monthly social breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, June 14, 9 a.m., Ridgway's Restaurant, Modesto.  I've heard from a couple of classmates who will be traveling far to join us so hope we have a great turnout to welcome them.  It will be a surprise as to who joins us.  Don't forget to bring your spouse or a guest.  All are welcome.
 
Planning Committee:  We have scheduled a Planning Committee meeting for Wednesday, June 11, 2 p.m., 3800 Springcreek Drive, Modesto (off of Scenic/near Claus).  Anyone interested in helping in any way with the plans for 2009, please join us. 
 
Some Sad News:  Most of us, I'm sure, remember our classmate, Doug Mann.  I had a call from his wife who had received our reunion letter.  She informed me that Doug passed away in September of 2004. 
 
After we determine from our recent mailing, which classmates are missing, I'll be sending out another email so that with your help we can locate them.

Hi, LaVern - Just wanted to update you on what's happening. 
 
We're getting a good response to our questionnaire and everyone is definitely interested in the picnic, among other things, of course.  I'm hoping you'll want to oversee the picnic in '09 and want to coordinate the date with you since we would like to do the breakfast/dinner/picnic all on the same weekend when everyone is in town.  We're having a planning committee meeting on Wednesday, June 11, 2 p.m. at my house (3800 Springcreek Drive, Modesto - off Scenic near Claus) and was hoping you could join us.  There has been some talk about September, but I know you usually do the picnic in August and want to work with you on this. 
 
Let me know what your plans are for next year's picnic (if any) and if you can make the meeting.  We're hoping we can all work together to have a great 50th celebration.  If you can't make the meeting and plan to do the picnic, let me know if you have a specific date so we can try to coordinate the other activities around it.

Let me catch you up to date if this is the first email you've received concerning next year's 50th reunion.
 
Today about 17 of us met for breakfast and had a great time reminiscing about the "good old days."  There were lots of squeals and hugs.
 
We plan to continue to meet every second Saturday of the month at Ridgway's Restaurant in Modesto and hope you can join us.  Our next monthly no-host breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, April 12, at 9 a.m.  This is mainly a social get together but it's a great opportunity to suggest ideas on what we'd like to do next year for the BIG 5-0!!!  Feel free to bring your spouse or "special someone" next time we get together.
 
We talked about doing several things rather than just one event but plan to keep it simple and inexpensive.  Some of us might prefer to attend one event or all the events.  During the planning stage we might even get together for some dinners, maybe an RV trip, picnic, etc.  Also, don't forget the picnic already planned for this year by LaVern Mendonza Reim and her group to be held on August 16.  See the ModestoHigh1959.com website for more details.
 
Any help you can give in providing email or "snail mail" addresses for other classmates, would be greatly appreciated.
